This was sooooo incredibly cool! My first proposal!
Steve, an amazingly thoughtful guy from Del Mar, planned a day, evening and overnight at The Montage for his soon-to-be fiancee.
The concierge desk referred him to us and he hired us to “go undercover” to capture the moments leading up to — AND the actual proposal. We staked ourselves out in the lobby bar, hoping to recognize the couple from a photo he’d emailed prior. Fortunately, Kim, concierge extraordinare on duty, gave us the high sign when they came in. As they got glasses of champagne for a beachside stroll, we took the elevator down to ground level to nonchalantly wait for them to emerge.
We spotted them coming down the stairs and split up … positioned ourselves on either side of the couple quite a distance away, with our long lenses aimed at them. Within seconds, we could see Steve going into his pocket for the ring box, and then… on his knee proposing to Nena.
After Nena said “YES!”, Steve gave us the high sign and we moved in for some close-ups. In addition to everything else, he picked a gorgeous engagement ring for her.
As if that weren’t enough, Steve had reservations at romantic Studio restaurant AND had reserved a room for an overnight stay. Of course, he thought of everything, including the Montage’s special turn-down service that includes a rose-petal heart on the bed. What a guy!
Steve gets our vote for most romantic, thoughtful man of the year!!!
Congratulations and our thanks for letting us play a part in such an incredible afternoon and evening.
